The galley designs are taken from the medieval grave slabs of the Clan Chiefs, found in the Reilig Odhrain, on Iona. It was believed that the galley carried the Clan Chief's soul to 'Tir-nan-Og', the land of eternal youth and they are often depicted sailing west where it was believed Tir-nan-og lay, over the horizon. On the reverse the text reads; 'I mo chridhe, I mo ghraidh', Iona my love, Iona my heart, the first line of St. Columba’s Iona prophecy. This piece measures 1½" x ¾" and comes on a medium weight silver chain, 18" long.
